Hurricane Andrew struck South Florida during the early morning hours of August 24, 1992. Over the past 10 years Andrew has held the title of being the costliest Hurricane ever to hit the U.S. mainland at a cost of 26.5 billion dollars in damage. The lowest pressure recorded during Andrew's life cycle was 922 mb. Andrew was rated as a Category 4 storm until recently when, after a lot of research, it was upgraded to a Category 5. That makes Andrew only the third Category 5 Hurricane to hit the U.S. in history.
